About the book

This family history traces Carl Oliver Reinhold’s genealogy across generations. Photographs, documents, and captions accompany the histories of the Reinhold and Malm families.

The backstory

The book brings together information Mom recorded over the years, my genealogical research, and recollections from aunts and extended family members. I worked with relatives to preserve what they remembered hearing about the Reinhold and Malm families.

Growing up, we heard little about Dad’s father’s side of the family. According to Mom, the Reinholds seldom discussed their history with their children and kept few family records. I therefore worked with several genealogical researchers and carried out substantial research myself.

After writing up the Swedish research, I realized that I had not included microfilm references. I sent the work back to the Swedish researcher, obtained the references, and added them. Months later, I discovered that I had not sent him all the material. As a result, some passages still lack references to the microfilm records on which they were based.
